Fighting Back Against Scalpers
If there's one thing the Trading Card Game community hates, it's bots and scalpers scooping up all the premium sealed inventory within seconds of a new set release. We've seen it happen time and time again across the industry: a highly anticipated booster box drops, bots instantly buy out the entire stock, and real players are forced to pay double the price on the secondary market. When we set up our store, we knew we had to build a robust defence system to protect our sealed drops.
The 60-Minute Cooldown
To combat this, every order containing a Sealed Booster Box triggers the Scalper Defence System. Once you successfully check out with a sealed product, your account and IP address are placed on a strict 60-minute cooldown for sealed box purchases. If our system detects multiple rapid-fire orders originating from the same source, the checkout will be blocked.
Why do we do this?
Scalpers rely on running automated scripts to purchase high-value sealed booster boxes in rapid succession, bypassing standard quantity limits by placing dozens of individual orders. By enforcing a hard time-limit between orders, we:
- Break the automated checkout loops used by scalper bots.
- Ensure that sealed inventory is distributed evenly among genuine customers.
- Guarantee that real players have a fair window to buy boxes at retail price when a new set drops.
